This is my spin on the classic balm of Gilead. Made with cottonwood buds that I harvested in the spring that have been slowly infused in organic jojoba oil and beautiful st joan flowers that I hand picked and infused in jojoba. Blended with double infused arnica and daisy oil, local, heady beeswax and tallow. Available in a 1oz jar.

A bit about each ingredient:

Cottonwood buds can be used like poplar. They contain salican which is a glycoside that turns into salicylic acid in our bodies...think aspirin. Also great used topically for pain, I like to use it on swollen joints or sprains, sore muscles and have had it save my sunburnt skin many times. Plus I just love the smell of the sticky resin.

St. Joan, better known as St. John's Wort, pairs beautifully with cottonwood as it is also great topically for minor wounds and skin complaints like psoriasis/eczema, helpful with sunburns, bruises and sore muscles. I've had great results using it on minor nerve damage. Some fun facts about St. Joan are that the leaves have tiny holes in them, a great way to identify and the beautiful yellow flowers turn bright red when infused fresh in carrier oil due to the hypericum.

Arnica is famous for its vulnerary (wound healing) properties. It is anti-inflammatory making it great for sore muscles and pains in the like.  It shouldn't be used on broken skin though (like a gash or deep cut) and you shouldn't ingest it unless homeopathically because straight up it is toxic this way.  I can attest to its homeopathic qualities.  I used it liberally postpartum and swear by it.  When used homeopathically it is great for traumatic experiences along with pain.

I like to think  of daisies as a sister to arnica.  They are both members of the large asteraceae family. Common daisies are actually edible but kind of boring in flavor if you ask me so I have just used them as decorations. They are rich in vitamin c and anti-inflammatory so can be helpful for colds/flu and digestion. Since they are anti-inflammatory so can be used like arnica for aches and pains, bruising and broken bones. They also have skin brightening qualities and can help with a dull or spotty complexion.

If you haven't heard yet, I'm a big fan of tallow. I believe in the importance of using every part of the animal and I like to render tallow from suet from local, grass fed cows. I've never had anything else leave my skin feeling as super smooth and soft. It is rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K and minerals and healthy for us!

ENJOY THIS LIMITED BATCH AND BE WELL XOXO

Very nice consistency. Will be a great hand cream this winter before and after chores. Not greasey or overpowering fragrance.
